Supporting Our Community: Introducing Omni’s Program Leadership Committees

As Omni has continued to grow, one thing has become increasingly clear: a strong community doesn’t just happen on the dance floor — it starts the moment you walk through the door.

Over the past month, many of you may have noticed familiar faces greeting you at check-in, helping with logistics, answering questions, and making sure the night runs smoothly. This is not accidental. It’s part of a new structure we’ve been intentionally building.

What Are Program Leadership Committees?

Omni’s program leadership committees are small teams of trusted community members dedicated to supporting the day-to-day flow of each program.

These leaders help with:

• Welcoming dancers at the door and creating a friendly first impression

• Managing the check-in process and attendance tracking

• Noting passes, memberships, and drop-ins

• Flagging questions, concerns, or special situations to the core team

In short, they help keep our classes, socials, and programs running smoothly — so instructors can teach, dancers can dance, and everyone feels taken care of.

Rather than one central team handling everything, we’ve shifted to program-specific leadership, allowing each dance community to be supported by people who are regularly present, familiar, and invested in that space.

Why This Change Matters

• This restructure allows Omni to:

  • Improve consistency and clarity at check-in

  • Create a more welcoming experience for new and returning dancers

  • Share responsibility sustainably as the community grows

  • Empower trusted members to take ownership within their programs

  Most importantly, it helps preserve the warm, community-first feeling Omni is known for — even as we expand.

Here are a few of the community members who have stepped into leadership roles, and what excites them most about supporting Omni in this way:

OmniZouk (Brazilian Zouk)

• Sabina - “I’m most excited about fostering a community at Omni where everyone feels genuinely welcomed, supported, and valued.”

Sabina brings care and attentiveness to OmniZouk, helping ensure dancers feel comfortable and supported from the moment they arrive.

OmniSwing (West Coast Swing)

• Olivia - “Learning WCS at Omni has been such a nourishing and meaningful part of my life. I am excited to support the Omni WCS program grow and mature, to spread the joy and build more WCS community local to Oakland.”

Olivia supports the West Coast Swing program with a focus on consistency, growth, and creating a reliable, welcoming check-in experience.

OmniBachata (Bachata)

• Alex - “There is nothing better than being a leader at Omni and being able to give back to this community which has welcomed me with such open arms.”

Alex helps anchor OmniBachata nights by supporting check-in, logistics, and overall flow — making sure dancers can focus on enjoying the evening.
